Blast off!

After a lot of preparation behind the scenes, it is finally time to launch my magazine. I am so happy you found me and I hope you enjoy The Thinking Muse.

What is my perspective?

I am the everywoman with an extra dose of sassy nerd. I am many wonderful and bad things all rolled into one. That is reminiscent of the Meredith Brooks and Shelly Peiken song…”I’m a b!tch, I’m a lover. I’m a child, I’m a mother. I’m a sinner, I’m a saint. I do not feel ashamed.” I am not a rock star, except in my own head sometimes. *wink wink*

Another thing I am not is a writer, my background is in engineering and museum studies. I know what you are thinking, “Why start writing a magazine if you aren’t a writer!?” Being the nerd that I am, I do favor images, graphs, and bullets points. However, I feel I have something to share. I want to engage in a dialog with you on interesting topics in a conversational manner. I am hoping that my tone and content will give credence to what I have to say. You will be the ultimate judge.

This endeavor will be interesting because I tend to be quite private. I don’t even really participate in social media. So that is new to me. I will open up with time, as I do with friends. Just as I hope that you open up to me with your interaction.

What is my philosophy?

I am reaching out to my people: introverts, nerds, and smarty-pants of the world.

I want to build a community where we can share a moment and then move on with our lives, enriched. I may touch on the topics of introversion, nerdom, or smarty-pantsism, but I don’t aim to have that be the subject matter of my content. The intention of the magazine is to spark thought and laughter in a more cerebral manner. King of content

Inspiration gets me all pumped up. I even wrote my dissertation on it for school. Inspiration induces creative energy and vitality. Who doesn’t want that? I want to infuse you with inspiration and get you thinking. Thus, the name The Thinking Muse was born!

If you do any research into how to write, you will repeatedly see that content is everything. Actually what they say is content is king.

The Thinking Muse content is broken down into several categories to facilitate browsing. Some may interest you and others may not. Hopefully, you will find something that appeals to you.

What you can do for The Thinking Muse

pointing at youIn order for The Thinking Muse to fully function as envisioned, it needs to be a community. Give and take. I want your comments, ideas, and stories.

I ask you to participate in the polls. No email is even required for engagement. It just gives me a feel of where your interests fall, so I can better serve you. No commitment.

If your feedback is related to an article, please leave it in the comments. If you have thoughts or ideas for me, please use the contact form.

I want you to trust me. Personally, I often avoid providing my email online because I don’t want to be overcome with spam. Because I want you to participate with the content, I feel it is only fair that I make it safe for you. I promise to never share or sell your email.

I also think it is creepy when advertisements show up on pages for things I have recently searched online. Eek! I will make it obvious when there is advertising and won’t link you off to a commerce sight unknowingly. I won’t do that to you because I want you to be a part of the community. I will work to only provide quality reference links in my articles.

The start of a journey: seeking inspiration

I am glad you are here. It should be quite a ride as I learn, dip my toe into the social media pool, and share my experience. Please join me as I learn and reflect and laugh.
